Fixing F1 2011 Crashes, Blackscreen, Errors, Freezing, FPS issues
Problem #1 F1 2011 PC Crash Fix Crash to Desktop, Black screen upon Launch / Startup
If youre game randomly crashes upon launching the game, ensure or try the following:
Update your nVidia / ATI graphics drivers
Turn off SLI / Crossfire
Try using only one GPU first (turn the other one off via your grpahics control panel)
Disable anti-aliasing and filtering
Disable V-sync also solves shearing/tearing issues
Disable background apps, and turn off your anti-virus software
Run through our list of general fixes, which will most likely resolve your problems
Problem #2 F1 2011 PC FPS Fix Frame Skips, Low FPS, Lag
One of the reasons for poor FPS performance on the PC is that the game sometimes stores a massive replay file causing the F1 2011 to lag horribly.
To fix this, go to the replay file usually found in C:\ProgramData\Codemasters\F1 2011\DataCache\Administrator\replay\replay.pbf. If you cant find it, just search for replay.pbf in Windows 7.
Once you found it, right-click the file, go to Properties, and set permissions to Read only. You should notice better framerates afterwards.
An alternative workaround is change the default Rapture setting under Audio options to Software. This reduces usage of the replay file and will increase performance.
Another option is to tweak the settings in the hardware_settings_config xml file, which can be found in your save game directory. Turn down the shadow mask quality to 0.
Just in case youre an Xbox 360 user, the solution is to delete the game from your HDD, and Run the game from Disk.
Problem #3 F1 2011 PC Bug Fix Cant return to full screen after pressing ALT+Tab
Press ALT+Enter and you should be back in fullscreen shortly.
Problem #4 F1 2011 PC Crash Fix Error Launching Game, or DLL missing
This is commonly caused by your DirectX installation, so try to re-install DirectX. Ideally, just install the DirectX software that came with the game.
Problem #5 F1 2011 PC Wheel / Control Fix Cant edit Wheel Settings or Control Settings
If you cant seem to change your wheel settings (grayed out), try using your keyboard arrow keys instead of your mouse to switch from the Keyboard option to your specified controller. F1 2011 will readily support the following controllers:

Problem #6 F1 2011 PC Race wheel Fix Does not detect Logitech Driving Force Pro controls (thanks to Quirkitized)
Goto your game PC install directory. Goto the sub-folders listed below, you want to go inside the Action Map folder. (Example: \Steam\steamapps\common\F1 2011\actionmap)
Open up Logitech Driving Force Pro USB.xml in an editor (I used notepad++ but regular notepad should be just fine)
At the very top you will see this line
Right below that line, copy and paste this:
Save and close. Once inside the game you should be able to press L2 (button top near D-Pad) for your Car Status, and button R2 (button topright) for a Pit Request while still retaining the ability to navigate the menus with your dpad like the default. Also, this is another way to do a workaround to reconfigure your buttons while still being able to use d-pad to navigate the menus. Simply change the button # in the .xml file to whatever button # you want.
Problem #7 F1 2011 PC Install Fix Game wont install File not found
This is common if you are installing F1 2011 from a DVD. The alternative is to use another PC (perhaps a friends) and copy the CD files as an ISO file to an external drive. You can use Alocohl, Ultra ISO, or Magic ISO to do this. Then on your PC, install and use the same ISO mounter/reader which will allow you to read it like a DVD then install as usual. Or, just download the game from Steam altogether.
Also, before installing, make sure you have full administrator privileges, especially onw Windows 7/Vista.
Problem #8 F1 2011 PC Vista Fix Game wont launch on Windows Vista
This is caused by an error installing Games for Windows LIVE (GFWL). If this happens, restart your PC, try installing again, then if the Repair option/button shows, click it and will resume installing the game.
Problem #9 Changed Graphics Settings F1 2011 will not launch / start
A nifty feature of F1 2011 is the Safe Mode which will help you in case you made a boo boo in picking your Graphics Settings (yes, you realize youre PC isnt almighty). When you installed the game, a shortcut to the F1 2011 Safe Mode version is also created. Start your game by clicking on that and reset your graphics to previous settings.
Another workaround is to delete the hardware_settings_config.xml file, restart the game, and you should be back to the original recommended graphics settings.
Problem #10 F1 2011 PC Race wheel Fix Cant control or acceelerate properly with a racing wheel / controller
Check the racing wheel list mentioned earlier to see if your racing wheel is compatible.
Problem #11 F1 2011 PC Online Fix Problems joining/creating network sessions
If you are running a Firewall, ensure it is set to allow the game to communicate on the following ports for both inbound and outbound traffic: TCP and UDP port 3074
Problem #12 F1 2011 PC Sound Fix No sound coming out from speakers / speakers not playing
The F1 2011 software mixer supports up to 5.1 channel surround. If you are on 7.1 surround, select hardware with a suitable set-up (e.g. X-Fi with current OpenAL drivers) or Rapture3D. Then set the number of speakers in the Windows control panel.
Problem #13 F1 2011 PC Lag Fix Lagging online, Choppy gameplay
Try turning your graphics to the lowest possible settings and see how that goes. Of course, make sure you have a decent broadband connection!
Problem #14 F1 2011 PC Crash Fix Game doesnt start / run when USB headset is connected
This is due to some audio driver features not working together. To fix this, go to Run from the Start menu, type dxdiag and select OK, then select the Sound tab and change Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to read No Acceleration.
Problem #15 F1 2011 PC Save Fix Fixing corrupt save files
The concept is that there is a bad or corrupted file in your F1 2011 save folder, usually found under My Games\F1 2011 folder. This can be fixed by process of elimination, meaning you have to look for the corrupted file and delete it. To do this, make a backup of your save folder. Load the save games one-by-one and delete each corrupt save file you encounter.
There will surely be more crash fix solutions coming up as the game gets distributed worldwide, so be sure to check back or post in the comments below if you need help!

If you are facing this problem then you should try to disable crossfire using CCC. You need to do following steps:

Disable Crossfire in the CCC, not RadeonPro

Also update your NVIDIA drivers to 285.27.

If your F1 2011 installation has also messed up with F1 2020 then you need run windows updates to check any outdated files. The problem is more likely in Windows 7. You can also try following workarounds:
If you have Rapture application installed, uninstall it.

I know multiple people facing this issue. You can try following workarounds to fix it:
Turn off the Vsync from the graphics settings
Verify the integrity of the game cache files
Check that your graphics card is not getting overheated
Or you can create a shortcut (game’s .exe file) on desktop and then launch the game from there instead of running it from steam interface.

If you are using the SLi or Crossfire then disable them to fix the issue. If your fps are dropped to an unplayable extent, you can try changing Rupture to software audio in settings to get the boost. It didn’t affect the sound quality to a noticeable degree.
#10 Wheel Configuration Reverts Back Every time i Start F1 2011
There is a simple trick. When the screen says press any button to continue, don’t press any button from keyboard rather press it from your wheel pad. Your settings will be saved.

Make sure that you have the following things checked:
Port Forward TCP port 80.

If your game is being crashed then you should try changing directx 11 to directx 9 in the video options.
#13 F1 2011 Crashes Randomly
You need to verify the game cache. If it doesn’t help then you should use directx 9 instead of directx 11. This change seems to solve many issue related to F1 2011.
#14 Racing Wheel Not Recognized by the Game
You need to use the custom control settings to make it working even the force feedback.
#15 F1_2011.exe Detected as Virus Before Launch
If you owe a legit copy then it’s definitely a false positive. The problem is mostly faced by Avira users. So you can add an exception (in firewall settings) to run the game.
#16 F1 2011 Crashes To Desktop – Executable Crash on Startup
You can try following solutions:
Delete your save game folder form documents and then relaunch the game.
If you GFWL then make sure that Windows Live sign-in assistant is installed. It’s better that you uninstall GFWL first and then do a clean install with sign-in assistant.
#17 Can’t Get Out of Instant Replay
The issue is most probably related to your wheel/controller. Here is a quick solution for this one:
Go to \F1 2011\actionmap\.xml
Add this to the file before: ””:
#18 The Game Does not Start (performing first time setup, process 1 of 4)
You need to install OpenAL form C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2011\OpenAL.

If you find out that your game crashes only when the wheel is attached to your PC then you should follow these steps:
Load the game without the wheel
Set the controls to keyboard
Save your settings and restart
Connect the wheel and start the game again
You can also try deleting replay.pbf file in C:\ProgramData\Codemasters\FormulaOne2011\DataCach e\YourName\replay.

Problem #2 F1 2011 PC FPS Fix – Frame Skips, Low FPS, Lag
One of the reasons for poor FPS performance on the PC is that the game sometimes stores a massive replay file causing the F1 2011 to lag horribly.
To fix this, go to the replay file usually found in C:\ProgramData\Codemasters\F1 2011\DataCache\Administrator\replay\replay.pbf. If you can’t find it, just search for replay.pbf in Windows 7.
Once you found it, right-click the file, go to Properties, and set permissions to ‘Read only.’ You should notice better framerates afterwards.
@Mike:
Dankeeeeeeee
Mist...Ich brauch ne noch bessere FrameRate
ich hab den ordner datacache net.
